Laser Engraving on Rings
Font Guide and Examples
We offer inside ring engraving on most of the rings across our range. The process is precise and clean, and it allows you to add a short message, initials, a date or a simple symbol to the inside of your ring. There are hundreds of fonts available to us, but only a small selection is shown online. If you have a particular font you prefer, feel free to ask and we will check if it can be used. Inside ring engraving is small by nature, so readability is the main thing to consider. A font that looks decorative on a large screen may not stay clear once it is reduced to the size required for text inside a ring.
Clear fonts work best for narrow widths, while wider rings can carry more stylised lettering. Simple serif or sans serif fonts provide the most legible inside band message. Decorative fonts can still be used, especially if the personal meaning matters more than clarity. We set the default limit at 35 characters for each engraving, although this can be increased if needed by reducing the font size. Smaller finger sizes will always hold fewer characters than larger ones. If the listed options feel restrictive, let us know because custom ring text in another style may still be possible.

Clear and Readable Fonts
Below is the grouped list of engraving fonts we offer, along with short notes on how each performs when used for inside ring engraving.
Arial Regular

A straightforward sans serif that reduces well for inside ring engraving. Arial Regular keeps its shape at small sizes, and the spacing stays even across the full width of the band. It works reliably on 3mm, 4mm and wider rings, making it one of the safest choices for personalised ring engraving when clarity is essential. It also copes well with longer inside band engraving where every letter needs to remain separate.
Arial Bold

A heavier version of Arial that remains readable when the ring has enough internal space. It performs best on 5mm widths and above because the thicker strokes engrave cleanly when there is room for each letterform. Short names, dates and simple personalised ring engraving work well in this style, especially on rings where you want the text to stand out a little more.
Verdana Regular

Verdana has open shapes that remain clear once reduced for engraving inside a ring. The wide letterforms help longer messages hold their spacing, and the font keeps its structure on both narrow and medium bands. It is a helpful option if you want inside ring engraving that includes more characters without losing definition.
Verdana Bold

Suitable for medium and wide rings where the stronger outline has room to cut cleanly. Verdana Bold produces a solid and balanced result, though it can feel compressed on narrow widths. It works well when you want personalised ring engraving that remains readable while still having a slightly heavier appearance.
Calibri Regular

A soft, rounded sans serif that engraves evenly across most ring widths. Calibri Regular is dependable for initials, dates and shorter personalised ring engraving because the curves retain their smooth shape. It stays tidy during inside band engraving, even on narrower rings, where clarity is the priority.
Calibri Bold

More substantial than Calibri Regular but still tidy. Best suited to medium and wide rings where the increased weight has space to stay clear. It works well for names, dates and short phrases when you want a slightly stronger engraved result while keeping the style simple.
Times New Roman Regular

A traditional serif font that performs consistently well for inside ring engraving. It remains one of our preferred choices for clarity, as the small serifs stay crisp and the proportions work on narrow, medium and wide rings. This makes it ideal for personalised ring engraving where you want a classic style that stays readable once reduced to engraving size.
Times New Roman Bold

A heavier serif option that works best when the personalised ring engraving is short. The extra weight engraves cleanly on rings with more width, and it is suited to initials, dates and small phrases. It gives a more pronounced look while still supporting clear inside band engraving.
Decorative and Script Fonts
Segoe Print Regular

A rounded handwritten style that gives a casual look. It engraves well on wider rings but becomes harder to read on narrow widths due to the varied strokes. Works best for short personalised engraving where the aim is a handwritten appearance rather than long inside ring engraving.
Lucida Calligraphy Italic

A flowing script suited to initials, names and brief phrases. It needs more internal surface to keep the loops and curves distinct, so it is recommended for 5mm widths and above. It is often chosen for personalised ring engraving where a slightly more expressive style is wanted.
Great Vibes Regular

A decorative script with extended strokes and a formal feel. It engraves clearly on wider rings but loses readability when reduced for narrow bands. Best used for short sentimental messages or small decorative inside band engraving.
Cataneo BT

A calligraphic serif with a slight slant. It stays clear for initials and short names on medium and wide rings. Less suited to narrow widths because of its curved structure, but a good option when you want personalised ring engraving with a lightly stylised look.
Calluna Semibold

A modern serif with fuller shapes. It holds its definition well when engraved and is suitable for short inside ring engraving where clarity is more important than decorative detail. Works best on medium and wide rings.
Bodoni Book Regular

A classic serif with contrast between thick and thin strokes. It gives a refined appearance but needs a wider band to stay readable. Works best for engraved personalised rings where the width allows the hairlines to remain visible.
Amazon BT Regular

A serif font with sharp outlines that engraves cleanly. Suitable for names, dates and short personalised ring engraving. Performs well on medium and wide rings where the letter shapes have enough space to remain defined.
Flowing Regular

A light script with gentle curves. Although it appears joined, the letters do not fully connect, which helps each character stay clear at engraving size. Works best on wider rings where there is space for the strokes to stay smooth and readable. Ideal for personalised engraving where you want a softer look without full script connection.
Flowing Hearts (lower case only)

A decorative script designed to link two names with a small heart shape. The letters do not fully join, and the font is only available in lower case. It does not include numbers and is mainly used for personalised ring engraving where two names are joined with a heart between them. Suitable only for wider rings due to the extra detail.
Special Purpose Fonts
Roman Numerals

Used mostly for dates. The straight lines engrave cleanly and remain readable across most widths. A dependable choice for inside ring engraving when you want a clear numeric style that stays crisp even at small sizes.
Hebrew
Hebrew characters engrave well on wider rings because the block-based shapes hold detail when reduced. On narrow widths the internal features may soften slightly, so shorter names or dates produce the best results for personalised engraving.
Runes
Runic characters use straight lines and angular shapes, which engrave clearly on most widths. Works well for initials or short personalised ring engraving where you want a distinct, historic style without fine decoration.
Custom Engraving Requests and Special Options
If you want a font that is not listed here, we can usually check it and confirm whether it is suitable. Inside ring engraving depends on width, character count and how well the chosen style holds its shape once reduced. We are often asked which metals engrave with the strongest contrast. Titanium rings and tantalum rings produce the clearest black engraving due to the reaction created during laser marking. The results are similar in appearance, although the metals themselves are very different. Titanium is our lightest metal, while tantalum is our heaviest and around four times denser, giving two distinct options for customers who want a clean, dark engraving finish. If you need guidance on which combination of metal and font works best for your ring, feel free to ask and we will help narrow down the most suitable choices.
